Sirsa, March 12
Following negotiations for an alliance with the BJP drawing a blank, the Indian National Lok Dal has decided to go it alone in the upcoming parliamentary elections. The party has decided to formally launch its campaign in Haryana from March 14.

Sources said the INLD’s top leadership had finalised the names of candidates for all the 10 constituencies of the state. The party is likely to announce its candidates tomorrow.

Senior party leader Abhay Singh Chautala and INLD’s state president Ashok Arora will address workers meetings from March 14 to 16 in all the 10 parliamentary segments of Haryana. During the meetings, they are likely to introduce their candidates and exhort party workers to start campaign for them.

The sources said the party can either release the list of candidates on Thursday or announce each name in the candidate’s respective constituency during the meetings. When contacted, Ashok Arora said, “The party has planned meetings at Faridabad, Gurgaon and Charkhi Dadri (Bhiwani) on March 14, Gohana (Sonipat), Rohtak, Hisar and Fatehabad (Sirsa) on March 15 and Karnal, Kurukshetra and Ambala on March 16.”

Arora said the party workers were enthusiastic about the forthcoming elections. He claimed that the party would ensure that the Congress candidates were not able to save even their security deposits in any of the 10 parliamentary seats. He alleged that former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and his son Ajay Singh Chautala were behind bars due to a conspiracy of the Congress and the CBI.
