Usually it is the other way round. Once an actor has been-there-done-that with romance, comedy and action, the natural progression is to essay roles that are intense. Roles that promise to re-introduce a star as an actor who can easily slip into the skin of a given character. Since Jimmy Shergill has his career move in a reverse gear, he desperately wants to dance around the trees with heroines, test his comic timing and kick hard enough to blow away a dozen men!
Sky high
It might not be true on the political spectrum, but anyone with artistic credentials has never felt the difference between two nations. Falak Shabir, the latest signing sensation from the neighbouring state, Pakistan, arrives to open arms and devoted listeners. He pours his heart out and sums up his emotions with a disarming, “I’m at home here. So much so that I don’t feel the difference since everything is the same - the Punjabi language, the people and their hospitality.”
It was only a matter of crooning the hit single Ijazat (Sanu bhul na jawin) and he took the youngsters as well as the online community by storm. The reciprocation of love and gratitude goes beyond lip service. “In Lahore we have a music store where people from any bus coming from India, and especially the Punjabi community travelling in there, is offered everything at half the price; even if that means putting in money yourself.” He adds, “I didn’t know what Pani Puri was; when I went to Mumbai I told the guys that it was like our Gol Gappas — he didn’t even take money from me.”

A team of twelve local artists led by veteran theatre artist Balkar Sidhu returned to the country after giving a successful performance of various folk dances of Punjab in the 65th Sapporo Snow Festival held in Sapporo city of Japan. Their trip was sponsored by Ministry of Culture (Government of India) and South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur, (Tamil Nadu).

The thrill will increase manifold when the cast of upcoming movie Daar @the mall will appear in a special episode of Sony Entertainment Television’s longest running crime-thriller show CID. The show, known for its edge-of-the-seat thriller episodes, is all set to delight the audience. The episode will feature talented actor Jimmy Shergill with none other than our favourite CID cops.
