Pak detains 27 Indian truckers at LoC
Refuses to release them till J-K Police free its driver held for smuggling contraband
Srinagar, January 19
Pakistan continued to hold 27 Indian truck drivers in detention at a trading facility on its side of the Line of Control (LoC) near north Kashmir’s Uri town for the third day. This comes amidst announcement by the two countries to start 24x7 trade activity at the Attari-Wagah border yesterday.

BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi today unveiled the party’s strategy for 2014 General Election. He utilised Mani Shankar Aiyar’s tea vendor remark and Sonia Gandhi’s “dilemma” as a mother for launching a scathing attack on the Congress. He also unveiled BJP’s futuristic vision of India.

BJP leaders hacked my bank accounts: Virbhadra
New Delhi, January 19
In the thick of controversy ever since senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley accused him of accepting a bribe from a private power firm owner in return for a favour, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Sunday said he would fight the BJP politically and legally and accused its state leaders of hacking his bank accounts.

Speed up probe: Tharoor to Shinde
New Delhi, January 19
Union Minister Shashi Tharoor today recorded his statement before Sub-Divisional Magistrate Alok Sharma probing Sunanda Pushkar’s death on Friday. Pushkar’s brother Rajesh and journalist Nalini Singh also deposed before the magistrate. In the morning, Tharoor wrote to Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde offering full cooperation in the probe and urged him to expedite the probe.

Staff strike set to paralyse Haryana

Haryana is set to witness a four-day shutdown from tomorrow with most trade unions announcing to go on a strike after talks between state minister Randeep Singh Surjewala and employees’ representatives broke down on Sunday.
