Seminar held on opportunities for farmers:
A seminar on ‘Opportunities for small and marginal farmers’ was organised by the Krishi Vigyan Kendra. Deputy Director, Training, Dr Harinder Singh said there were 27 per cent small and marginal farmers in Fatehgarh Sahib district and a majority of them were economically weaK. He suggested them to opt for bee-keeping, mushroom cultivation, agro-processing, kitchen gardening, nutritional gardening of vegetables, pulses, oilseeds and fruits to make a better livelihood and to meet nutritional consumption needs.

Shaheedi Jor Mela begins today: The three-day Shaheedi Jor Mela - which is organised every year in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh’s sons, who were bricked alive here by Mughals for refusing to embrace Islam - will begin here tomorrow. Deputy Commissioner Arun Sekhri said wine shops, gambling stalls, dance pandals and circuses would remain closed. A 24-hour power supply, clean drinking water, toilet facilities and medical facilities would be ensured for the convenience of pilgrims. He said mini buses would carry senior citizens, women free of cost from various destinations to Gurdwara Sahib.

Minor girl recovered:
The police have recovered a minor girl from Gandhar village of Fazilka district who was allegedly abducted a month ago. The accused boy and his parents have been arrested.

Website launched:
With an aim to facilitate people, the Phagwara MC functioning has been made online. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Som Parkash along with Markfed Chairman Jarnail Singh Wahid, Corporation Commissioner Kuldip Singh and executive officer Adarsh Sharma, inaugurated the website iemcphagwara.com. yesterday. The executive officer said residents would now be able to deposit their property tax, water and sewerage bills online.

Guv briefed on Mughal Gardens revamp: State convener of the Indian Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage Salim Beigh called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Tuesday. Beigh briefed him about the progress achieved in cultural resource mapping of historic Srinagar city and preparation of the heritage map of the city. The Governor was also briefed about the to-date status of restoration and conservation of Mughal Gardens, Nishat, Shalimar and Achabal.

MY Tarigami calls on Guv: Mohammed Yousuf Tarigami, MLA Kulgam, called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhawan on Tuesday. Tarigami briefed him about Central and state government's developmental schemes under implementation in his constituency and the hardships being faced by people on account of the continuing shortage of power supply.

PDP seeks public support: Peoples' Democratic Party, MLC, Yashpal Sharma on Tuesday held two meetings at ward 35 and 37 in Janipur and urged people to vote for the party. Sharma, who is the candidate for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, sought support of the people to provide a strong political alternative in state.

Peaks Auto's e-outlet launched in Shopian: Peaks Auto Group inaugurated its e-outlet at Shopian on Monday. The outlet, which is the fifth of its kind in the Valley, was inaugurated by T Hashimoto, executive officer, marketing and sales, Maruti Suzuki. A spokesperson said a mega car loan mela, Maruti Suzuki Utsav, was also held.
