New Delhi, December 17
Caught in a fix over government formation in Delhi, especially after the BJP and the Congress offering it ‘unconditional’ support, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday said it will take views of Delhi voters before taking a final call. The party will make its decision public on Monday.

After a meeting of the party's political affairs committee and the newly elected MLAs, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal said they would distribute 25 lakh copies of letters seeking people's views on the issue and then replies will be accepted till Sunday. "We will make public our stand on Monday and convey it to the Lt Governor," he said.

Kejriwal said though the AAP managed to get a huge support from people in Delhi, it was not given a clear mandate. The AAP, which was invited by Lt Governor Najeeb Jung to discuss government formation last week, had set 18 conditions for the Congress and the BJP in its reply to their offer of support.

“We had written letters to both parties and the Congress had replied to our 18 points. The BJP, however, did not even bother to send a reply,” said Kejriwal, He took at a dig at BJP president Rajnath Singh for not replying, saying he is a very big leader and they (AAP members) are ordinary people.

Kejriwal said some of the leaders at the meeting felt that the AAP can form the government while others were of the view that it should not take power at all. AAP member Manish Jha said, “We are seeking people’s opinion and now the onus is on them.” While the party has already posted the information on its website, it is also communicating with the people through Twitter handles, Facebook pages and mails.

The Lt Governor has already recommended imposition of President's rule in Delhi among other options following the deadlock over formation of a new government as no party was ready to assume power.
