New buses yet to hit road

The new fleet of 25 buses of Ludhiana City Bus Service Limited is yet to run on city roads. Reason: The buses are yet to be registered as the Regional Transport Authority
(RTA) has not cleared the file since November 23.

Sidhwan Canal Bridge to be fully operational from today
Ludhiana, December 2
The right side of Sidhwan Canal Bridge on Ferozepur Road will be thrown open to traffic from Tuesday.
The stretch on the bridge was closed to vehicular traffic for the past few months due to the construction of an underpass for the Sidhwan Canal Expressway project.

Import tariff value on gold, silver slashed
Ludhiana, December 2
The import tariff value on gold and silver has been slashed to USD 405 per 10 gram and USD 642 per kg, respectively, in line with global trends.
The notification in this regard has been issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs
(CBEC). The import tariff value is the base price at which the customs duty is determined to prevent under invoicing.

Express Parcel Service launched
Ludhiana, December 2
The Express Parcel Service was launched today at the Head Post Office located at Bharat Nagar
Chowk. The Express Parcel Service will be available to both retail as well as business (corporate) customers.
Informing about the features of the the express parcel, Swaraj Kaur, Senior Post Master, said it was an air express parcel product providing time-bound delivery of parcels.

Hosiery traders get lukewarm response

Dr MIS Gill joins as head of fruit science dept

A senior horticulturist of Punjab Agricultural University, Dr MIS Gill has joined as the head of the department of fruit science, PAU. During his 21 years of service in the university, Dr Gill has made significant research contributions to the field of horticulture involving conventional and biotechnological approaches. He has to his credit 16 research recommendations, including three crop varieties and 13 plant propagation, production, processing, protection and post-harvest technologies having field relevance. All recommendations made by him have been included in the Package of Practices of Fruit Crops, PAU.
