Chahal to head biodiversity board: The state government has constituted a biodiversity board headed by AS Chahal. An official spokesman said here that the Additional Chief Secretary, Forests and Wildlife Department, and the Principal Secretaries of the Departments of Environment, Agriculture and Animal Husbandry and Dairying were the ex-officio members of the board. Kuldeep Singh Anand, Narender Singh Yadav and Parvez Ahmad were non-official members of the board.The term of the Chairman and members of the board would be three years. Jhajjar
Liquor vend set on fire in Jhajjar: Miscreants allegedly set a liquor vend on fire in Bhambheva village under Beri police station here on Thursday night. The miscreants fled the spot after commiting the crime. Old enmity is believed to be the reason behind the arson. Over 10 persons have been booked on the complaint of the vend owner. The police said the accused came to the vend around 10 pm and had an altercation with salesman Jaiveer of Bahrana village here over an old dispute. The accused then called some other people there and set ablaze the vend. The vend owner said liquor stock of thousands of rupees was damaged
in the fire. Bolero taken away at gunpoint: Two armed miscreants reportedly took away at gunpoint a Bolero jeep from Rinku of Makrana Dadri village on the Beri-Kabulpur village on Wednesday. The miscreants sped away after committing the crime. The police has registered a case against two on the complaint of the jeep owner. Body found: The police has found the body of a middle-aged man in fields located on the Badli road here on Friday. The body, which is yet to be identified, has been kept in the mortuary of the civil hospital. “We have sent pictures of the body to nearby police stations/ posts for recognition,” said the police. Two killed:Rajesh Kumar of Jamalpur was killed on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a tractor and a motorcycle near Guda village bus stand under Babain police station, 25 km from here, on Thursday. They carried banners and placards on peace and amity. The District Child Welfare Council organised the prize distribution function at Panchayat Bhawan here. ‘Political’ interference: The Himachal Pradesh Employees’ Confederation has demanded to stop government employees’ transfers on “political recommendations” forthwith. Vinod Kumar and Sanjay

Man killed: Tension prevails at Dagoh village, 20 km from here, following the murder of a 69-year-old man, Mehtab Singh. Mehtab was allegedly murdered by his nephew Kuldip Singh on Thursday. Police sources said there was a dispute over the boundary wall of the house between Mehtab and
Kuldip. Mehtab resumed the construction of a boundary wall, which led to a clash between the two families. The police said
Kuldip, along with other family members, allegedly attacked Mehtab with rods and a sharp-edged weapon. Mehtab died on the spot.
