BJP MP from Gujarat held for RTI activist's murder, JD (U) assails BJP and Modi New Delhi, Nov 6 (ANI): The JD (U) on Wednesday slammed the BJP and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi after reports of BJP MP from Gujarat Dinu Bogha Solanki's arrest emerged in media. Finding inconsistencies in his replies and other circumstantial evidence, the CBI on Tuesday arrested Solanki in connection with the murder of RTI activist Amit Jethwa in 2010. Jethwa had filed a petition before the Gujarat high court against illegal mining in the Gir forests.
Protesters demand India to boycott Commonwealth Heads Meet Tamil Nadu, Nov 6 (ANI): Protesters in Tamil Nadu demanded India not to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Colombo and urged the United Nations to intervene in the matter. According to media reports, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is yet to decide as to whether he would participate in the Commonwealth summit or not, which will be held in Colombo from November 15 to November 17. The protesters in Coimbatore took to the roads, shouting slogans and set an effigy on fire in the middle of the road, blocking the movement of vehicles.
