CBI arrests Rajasthan ex-minister Nagar
Jaipur, October 25 Before his arrest, a CBI team examined him for six hours, said Central Bureau of Investigation spokesperson Kanchan Prasad. “The former minister of Rajasthan has been arrested under Sections 323 and 376 (in an alleged rape case) after around six hours of examination. He is being taken for medical examination and will be produced in court tomorrow,” she said. The CBI sleuths probing the case recorded Nagar’s statement at the Circuit House after he was summoned for interrogation this forenoon, officials said. Nagar earlier told mediapersons that he had faith in the CBI probe and that he had given his views and statements related to the case in writing to the agency. The police had booked Nagar on charges of raping and beating up the woman on September 11, after calling her to his official bungalow here on the pretext of giving her a job. On October 9, the CBI took over the probe from the Rajasthan Police, which had registered the case against Nagar, following which he resigned as the Minister of Dairy, Khadi and Rural Industries. Earlier, the CBI team conducted forensic examination of the Nagar’s official residence, where he had allegedly raped the woman. The CBI team also recorded the statement of the victim at her residence. Nagar, who tendered his resignation as minister, was suspended from the Congress last month. — PTI
