RS Talwar passes away New Delhi, October 10 He was admitted to the hospital on October 8. Talwar, who would have turned 94 on October 18, is survived by wife Veera Talwar, sons Rana and Amar and daughter Dimpy Soni. The cremation will take place at the Lodhi road crematorium at 12 noon tomorrow. Talwar had been a Trustee of The Tribune since 1986. He headed the Trust between December 2007 and April 2012. Later, he relinquished the post of the President, but continued as a Trustee. During his tenure as the President, The Tribune grew in strength, witnessed innovative changes and launched several new products that enabled it to consolidate its leadership in the region. Talwar did MSc (Honours) in physics with distinction from Government College, Lahore. Prior to joining the IAS, he joined the Royal Air Force as an officer in 1941. At the end of World War II, he was selected for the civil service and assigned to Punjab. He retired from the IAS in 1977 after 36 years of distinguished service.
