Affiliating University of Medical Education Bill being redrafted
Dehradun, October 8 While the Governor’s refusal to sign the Bill in some quarters was viewed as a rebuff to the Chief Minister, sources claim poor drafting of the Bill in which power to prepare the course which rests with the Medical Council of India seemed to have been ignored. “The Bill was hurriedly drafted where power to prepare the course was vested in the state whereas in medical education it is vests with the Medical Council of India,” said a senior official. However, the Bill is now being redrafted and once it is passed it would help in regulating the medical, nursing and para medical education in the state. In the absence of a medical university, the GB Pant Institute has been entrusted with the task of conducting the entrance examinations but once the university comes into existence, it would have the power to conduct the examinations. Besides, the university would also help in regulating the
para-medical education in the state. As of now, several private para-medical institutions have come up in the state and are charging exorbitant fees without the an effective control by the government. |

Just to give a false impression that things had returned to normal in Uttarakhand, the state government was in a hurry to restart prayers and the yatra to the shrine, but the fact was bodies that were still being found in the valley, he alleged."Who is responsible for playing with the lives of hundreds of people in Kedar ghati?
