AIDS awareness drive in rural areas draws good response

2 policemen arrested, one transferred

Narinder Singh, in charge of the Raghunath Enclave Chowki, and a Head Constable were arrested today, while the SHO, PAU, Paramdeep Singh, was transferred after the SIT formed to probe the case of custodial torture and illegal confinement of a nine-year-old boy submitted an action-taken report in the matter.
Couple killed by adopted son

Taking advantage of rumours about the Kala Kachha gang, an adopted son allegedly killed his parents with a sword at Chakar village in Jagraon and concocted a robbery story to hoodwink the police. The victims have been identified as Avtar Singh (45) and Veerpal Kaur (40).

Seven booked for getting loan on forged documents

The Jagraon police has booked seven persons, including a bank manger, a commission agent and a field officer, for getting loan by submitting forged documents to a bank. The accused have been identified as commission agent Gurjit Singh, bank manger Gurbachan Singh, field officer Jaipal Yadav, Balvir Singh, alias Lucky, Ranjit Singh, a resident of Malak village, Binder Singh, a resident of Kothe Parmesher, and lambardar Budh Singh.
