Gurgaon/Panchkula, July 22
The Gurgaon police today recovered two of the three bullets that pierced through the body of Geetanjali Garg, wife of Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate Ravneet Garg, during a fatal attack last week. Geetanjali’s family has further filed a supplementary statement with the police accusing her in-laws of harassing her for dowry.

“We have recovered two bullets from the crime scene and these are being sent to the CFSL,” said Gurgaon Police Commissioner Alok Mittal.

The special investigation team from Gurgaon conducted a search at Garg’s Sector-25 residence in Panchkula. “We also conducted a search of Garg’s official residence and seized three laptops, a mobile phone, licence of the revolver used in the crime, its holster and a pack of live cartridges,” Mittal said.

Victim’s brother Pardeep Aggarwal and other family members in a statement filed last night alleged that Geetanjali was being harassed for dowry.

“Geetanjali had called up Pardeep saying her in-laws had refused to pay the school fee of her daughters and told her to get money from her parents. We gave Rs 2 lakh to the family in two installments in May. When they demanded more, she told them that her parents were in dire straits financially,” the statement reads. “At the time of marriage, we had given the Garg family a Skoda Laura car on their demand.

In 2009, they demanded a Skoda Superb car and we gave one. While one car is with Ravneet, the other is being driven by his brother,” it says.

The family claimed the harassment started right after the birth of the couple’s first daughter and worsened after the second girl was born.

“She would also hint at Ravneet having an extramarital affair and that the family had been planning his second marriage,” claimed Aggarwal.

Acting on the complaint, the police summoned Ravneet’s parents who were being questioned till the filing of the report.

“The charges are serious and Garg and his parents are being questioned. We will also call the victim’s family with supporting evidence,” the officer said.

Geetanjali’s father Om Prakash, who lives in Panchkula, has demanded a narco test on Garg. “It is a case of contract killing and there is a possibility that he has got my daughter killed through his peon and driver,” he claimed. The family has also demanded the suspension of the CJM. Ravneet Garg’s brother Navdeep claimed both his parents and brother were innocent.
