Gurgaon, July 21
Gurgaon Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Ravneet Garg has finally joined the probe being conducted into the death of his wife, Geetanjali.

Accompanied by his brother, Garg came to the Palam Vihar police station here late last night and was interrogated by the special investigation team.

Garg was on Saturday booked under penal provisions for murder and common intent. While Geetanjali’s family has been pressing for Garg’s removal, sources said the proceedings have already begun in Chandigarh.

“Garg has joined the investigations and was questioned for three to four hours last night. It’s too early to comment on anything,” said Police Commissioner Alok Mittal.

Sources revealed that Garg was questioned for over four hours and was made to recount the events on the day of his wife’s death. Garg reportedly told the team that there was no provocation for him to harm his wife in any way and they had a normal husband-wife relationship.

“Garg said he was at a conference at the time of the incident. The CJM said he got a call that his wife had not returned from the walk and was later told about her death. Garg refuted all claims of Geetanjali’s family and said he was being framed,” revealed an investigator.

Garg said Geetanjali was tense ever since she had come to Gurgaon and didn’t want to stay in the city. The CJM named his peon and one of the drivers as key suspects in the case and said their attitude was not right.

“They were irregular and Geetanjali often used to be angry over their behaviour,” Garg reportedly told investigators. The SIT, meanwhile, revisited the crime spot again looking for the shells of bullets that had pierced Geetanjali’s body.

Geetanjali’s family members on Sunday said they were not being allowed to meet her children.
