In a significant order expected to benefit 50,000 residents of the city, who have been blamed for carrying out “need-based changes” in the flats of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB), the Punjab and Haryana High Court said the action could be initiated against them only under the yet-to-be-notified new policy.
Man stabbed to death
Chandigarh, July 21
The police has booked three persons for allegedly killing a man at Hallo Majra this evening.
The victim, Vinod, was stabbed multiple times in the head and chest and his throat was slit. The police has arrested Rajkumar and his wife Archana, while the third accused, Sonu, is on the run.
Twin road mishaps on Madhya Marg

Another student dies
Chandigarh, July 21
Ten-year-old Amanpreet, who had suffered serious injuries in an accident between a school bus and a private transport bus on the Kharar-Ludhiana highway near Mamupur village, succumbed to his injuries at the PGIMER today. Mehakpreet (16), a student of Class X at Indus Public School in Nawanshahr Badala village, and the bus driver, Harinder Singh (45), had died on the spot while Harpreet Singh (13), a student of Class VII, had died at the PGI.
