Watching movies in multiplexes in the city will now burn a hole in your pocket as the prices of tickets have been increased. A show, which used to cost a family of four around Rs 1,400, including beverages, will now cost more than Rs 1,800. The cost of the movie tickets has been increased by the UT Administration from today.

The education department today made mid-day meal kitchens operational in six government schools.
At present, Dr Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42, Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Sector 42, Hotel Shivalik View, Sector 17, and GMSSS-47 (run by a private contractor), prepare and deliver mid-day meal to all government schools.

Encroachments removed from 11 houses

Officials of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) today carried out a demolition drive in Sector 19. Police personnel discouraged residents from stopping the drive.
Violations were noticed in 150 houses in the sector. Encroachments were removed from 11 houses.

Property consultants accuse CHB staff of sitting over files

The Property Consultants Association has accused the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) of sitting over files. In a press conference today, members of the association said residents were being harassed by the CHB officials as they never bothered to clear the files.
Satya Pal Jain is chief of BJP legal panel

Former city MP and senior BJP leader Satya Pal Jain has been nominated as the chairman of the BJP’s National Committee on Legal Affairs and Election Commission by BJP president Rajnath Singh for the coming 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The BJP on Friday decided to set up 20 committees, including the National Committee on Legal Affairs and Election Commission, which will focus on various aspects of electioneering.
