Robbery at gunpoint: Three arrested

The Panchkula police today arrested three youths after they looted Rs 4.5 lakh from an Airtel distributor in Mansa Devi Complex
(MDC), Sector 5, last evening. Three youths, identified as Vinod, Rashid Ali and Hasheem were arrested in the wee hours today. A country-made pistol and two live cartridges have also been recovered from their possession. One accomplice is still at large.

Policemen to get refreshments on mobile canteen from today
Chandigarh, July 10
Policemen working for more than eight hours at a stretch have a reason to cheer. A mobile canteen will provide them the much-needed refreshment round-the-clock.
The canteen will be launched on Thursday. The concept, initiated by UT Inspector General of Police RP
Upadhyaya, has been introduced for the first time in the northern part of the country.

Damaged pipeline blocks traffic on Chandigarh-Kalka road

It was a harrowing day for commuters as a pipeline crossing the
Chandigarh-Kalka highway near MDC T-point got ruptured, leading to traffic snarls till evening.
Being the main route from Panchkula to Chandigarh, the situation remained chaotic, especially during the office hours.

Water level rises in Sukhna

Recent rains have led to an increase in the water level of the Sukhna Lake by 1.6 ft in the last one week. The water level of the lake, which was 1,157 ft last week, has now increased to 1,158.6 ft.

2 years on, high-resolution CCTV cameras still elude PU campus

Govt teachers oppose extension of timings

Over 100 government teachers, who gathered at Masjid Ground in Sector 20 today, opposed the latest proposal of the UT Education Department to extend the school timings by an hour and a half under the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act.
CAT allows promotion of non-faculty PGI staff
