Five HC judges to take oath today: The Punjab and Haryana High Court will get five more judges. Pursuant to their elevation, they will be administered oath as additional judges by Chief Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul on Thurdsay. The judges to be administered oath are Anita Chaudhary, Mahavir Chauhan, Fateh Deep Singh, Jaspal Singh and Surinder Gupta. With their elevation, the number of High Court judges will increase to 47 against the sanctioned strength of 68.

Man booked for harassing teenager: The Mahilpur police has booked Ram Sarup of Jassowal for allegedly harassing a teenaged girl of his village. Police sources said on finding the girl alone in her house, Ram Sarup went in and started harassing her. When the girl raised an alarm, her mother came to her rescue, following which Ram Sarup fled.
5 women held for immoral trafficking: The police on Tuesday raided a house in ward No. 8 in Tanda and arrested five women for allegedly indulging in flesh trade. Sources said the police also seized Rs 2,150 and some other items. All were booked under various sections of the Immoral Traffic Prevention Act, 1956.

CIHT gets nod for new course: The Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has decided to start a new three-year diploma course in computer science and engineering at the Central Institute of Hand Tools
(CIHT), Jalandhar, from the current session. The institute will admit 60 students this session, an official press released said. The CIHT has got an approval for the course from the All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi.Sangrur
Three shoot at cops at naka: Three people allegedly opened fire on the police near Mastuana Sahib, about five km from here, when the police signalled them to stop the car they were traveling in, on the intervening night of June 18 and June 19. No policeman was injured. Paramjit Singh Goraya, Superintendent of Police, on Wednesday said the accused were involved in several robberies. Goraya said the three accused fled but the police took possession of the vehicle. A case has been registered.
