Mumbai, June 8
The Nationalist Congress Party is all set for a major revamp with party chief Sharad Pawar asking all his Central and state-level ministers to submit their resignations.

Pawar called a meeting of all party leaders, including office-bearers and ministers, on Friday evening where they were asked to submit their resignations. Several ministers told reporters that draft resignation letters were already prepared and their signatures were taken as soon as the meeting commenced Friday evening.

Apart from the ministers, the party office-bearers were also asked to submit their resignations, sources said. Those who put in their papers include Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and Maharashtra Assembly Speaker Dilip Walse-Patil.

While several NCP ministers with allegations against them are likely to be eased out, senior leaders are likely to be drafted for party work. The buzz in Mumbai is that Home Minister RR Patil will be among those who will be asked to work for the party. The fate of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is uncertain, according to sources.

Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan told reporters here today that the resignations by NCP ministers was an internal matter of that party. However, he indicated that Cabinet expansion was possible in the coming days ahead of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in 2014.
