In a major breakthrough, the city police has arrested a 25-year-old man, who allegedly killed his wife and tried to hoodwink the police by accusing certain youngsters living in the neighbourhood of murdering her.
Grocery shop gutted

Goods worth lakhs were destroyed in a fire, which broke out at a grocery shop near Basti Jodhewal Chowk here early this morning. A short-circuit is believed to be the reason behind the fire.

Student of nursing college goes missing

A 22-year-old student of a nursing college went missing under mysterious circumstances today.
The girl, identified as Puja Teresa of Jalandhar, a second-year-student of a nursing college located in the Division No. 3 area, left the hostel last
evening.

Politics over foundation stones again to the fore in city

Factionalism in the ruling SAD came to the fore when a foundation stone, which was got installed by Akali councillor Jagbir Sokhi, was vandalised by certain persons, believed to be an Akali MLA's supporters. This foundation stone was laid for the re-carpeting of roads in the Preet Nagar area of his ward number 63 last evening.

Industrial policy to be announced today

Villagers extort money from truckers

Two held with illegal weapons

Missing boy found at Ladhowal
Ludhiana, June 2
A six- year- old boy, Nirbhau alias Rahul , who went missing while following her mother on May 31, was recovered from a Gaushala in Ladhowal today.
What surprised the police was the fact that the boy covered the distance of over 12km after being separated from her mother.
Three die in separate road accidents

Three persons died in separate incidents last evening. In the first incident, a scooterist died after being hit by an over speeding car near Katani Kalan

Three injured in road mishap in Khamano

Three persons of a family, were injured after they were hit by a speeding car. The incident occurred when the victims, including a child and a woman, who were going on a mobike, were going on the Ludhiana-Chandigarh road near Jatana village near here. Suddenly, a Swift car hit them and fled from the spot.
350 gm of opium seized

The Sadar police has recovered 350 gm of opium from office of a marriage palace situated on Ludhiana

Entry to Guru Nanak Stadium restricted

The sports officials at the Guru Nanak Stadium have finally decided to implement the decision to reserve the right of entry in stadium.
The officials have decided to ban the entry of outsiders to park their vehicle in the sports complex. The decision came after the resent clash between a District Sports Officer and a politician on May 21.
