Pak prisoner Sanaullah Haq dies in Chandigarh hospital New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah Haq, who was attacked by inmates in Jammu's Kot Bhalwal jail, died in a Chandigarh hospital on Thursday. Sanaullah suffered renal failure on Wednesday and doctors had said that his condition was “extremely critical”. According to reports he was on a ventilator, remained unconsicious and was on dopamine and noradrenaline infusions to maintain his blood pressure. Sanaullah was injured during a scuffle with another inmate in Jammu jail earlier last week where he was serving life term after being convicted under TADA provisions.
Chhattisgarh: 1 solider killed, 3 injured in Naxal encounter Raipur/Palamu, May 09 (ANI): A security official was killed and three others were injured in an encounter with the naxalites in Maoist-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh. The incident happened when officials of the Chhattisgarh Armed Forces (CAF) went on patrolling duty, only to land in an ambush. According to officials, as the patrolling party reached near the forest of Kistaram village, the ultras opened fire on them, killing one soldier and injuring three others. Two of the three injured soldiers were brought to Raipur city for medical treatment.
Resident Doctors at Safdarjung Hospital go on indefinite strike New Delhi, May 09 (ANI): Nearly 1000 resident doctors at Delhi's premier Safdarjung Hospital commenced an indefinite protest on Thursday demanding housing facilities for resident doctors and security measure to ensure safety of male and female doctors. The doctor’s protesting explained that they did not intend to cause problems for patients but needed to take the step as their demands were being ignored for years. While emergency services at the hospital are said to be functioning normally, out patient department (OPD) and surgical services have been hit, affecting many of the thousands of patients who are treated at the government-run hospital daily.
SC rejects Jagan Reddy's bail plea in disproportionate assets case New Delhi, May 9 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Thursday rejected YSR Congress President Jagan Mohan Reddy’s bail plea in a disproportionate assets case. Reddy is likely to stay behind bars for at least four more months. The YSR Congress chief has already spent almost a year in Hyderabad's Chanchalguda jail after he was arrested by the CBI in connection with the disproportionate assets case last year. While rejecting his petition today, the court said that granting him bail could hamper the investigation and directed the CBI to complete the probe within four months. It also said that Jagan could apply for bail before a trial court after the probe is completed.
