Rs 1 cr for Dashmesh Academy:
To impart training to students to ensure their recruitment in the armed forces, the government will allocate Rs 1 crore every year to the newly established NDA training wing at Sri Dashmesh Academy. This was announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal at a meeting of Sri Dashmesh Academy Trust here. He said this would make the NDA wing of the academy financially viable from the current academic session.

Vasu is HIMFED Director
: Vasu Dev Vasu, educationist, former president of the HP State Teachers Union and state secretary of the CPI, was unanimously elected Director of HIMFED from Bilaspur district here onday. Prominent cooperators, including former state CPI secretary Shankar Singh Chandel, BDTS Barmana president Lekh Ram Varma, Kharsi Transport cooperative Sabha general secretary Daulat Singh Thakur, HIMCOFED Director KK Kaushal and CPI Secretariat member Pravesh Chandel welcomed this election.

Man gets life term for murder:
Additional Sessions Judge, Chamba, Mukesh Bansal, has sentenced Vyas Dev of Ralera village in Chamba district to life imprisonment for the murder of Balo Ram and fined him Rs 20,000. Manoj Kumar, son of the deceased, said on March 11, his father Balo Ram was helping him in tying the animals. Eye-witnesses Prithi Chand and Kamla Devi saw his uncle Vyas Dev come and hit his father on the head with an axe. He was rushed to the hospital, but died on the way.

HP player part of cricket team:
Cricket player Sushma Verma will represent India in the forthcoming series against Bangladesh. In a press note here on Thursday, the HPCA spokesperson said it was a matter of pride for the small hill state that Sushma was selected to represent India. “We wish that Sushma will act as role model for other women players from the state,” said Anurag Thakur, President of HPCA.

V’ball, wrestling trials on April 2, 3:
The State Youth Services and Sports Department will organise trials for boys for admission in the Volleyball and Wrestling for 2013-14 session at Sports Hostel, Una. The trials for volleyball will be conducted on April 2 at 9 am and for wrestling on April 3 from 9 am at the local Indira Gandhi Stadium.
