Man gets life term for killing 3-year-old daughter

A local court today awarded life imprisonment to a man for murdering his three-year-old daughter. The convict, Dhanna Ram (42), was convicted of the murder charge yesterday but was acquitted of the rape charge after no circumstantial evidence was found against him.

Dept’s hasty move makes little sense

Haste has led to waste for the UT Education Department. First it kept sitting over its decision to allocate funds to government schools for buying free uniforms for the pupils. And then, when the session is about to be over, it has hastily dispatched bank drafts to the schools. Result: Over 1 lakh students from class I to class VIII of UT have not benefited from the free uniform policy.
