Batala man held for raping minor:
A 13-year-old Dalit girl of Mattian village, falling under the Rajasansi police station, was allegedly raped by Bhupinder Singh at his house at Inderjeet Bholi on Saturday. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tulsi Ram said the victim’s father had alleged when her daughter went to the market, the accused forcibly took her to his house and raped her. He later dropped her at Ramtalai temple. The police has registered a case against Bhupinder, who has been arrested, and his wife Raj Kaur.

Two dismissed cops among 3 booked:
The police has booked three persons, including two dismissed policemen, for allegedly duping a number of residents after promising them jobs in the police. Shingara Singh, a resident of village Shahpur in Fazilka district, alleged that Harjeet Singh of Fazilka district, Fateh Singh and Amandeep Singh of Muktsar district had promised a job to his son in the police and charged Rs 4 lakh for the purpose. "But, later, they failed to fulfill their commitment and even refused to return the money," the complainant said.

Youth gets 10-yr RI in dowry death case:
A local court on Monday sentenced a 21-year-old youth, Raju Singh of Khanal Kalan village in Dirba, to 10-year rigorous imprisonment in a dowry death case. A case was registered in August 2010 against Raju, his father Satpal Singh (56) and minor brother Lakhvir. In his complaint, victim's father Lachhman Dass alleged that his daughter was being continuously harassed for dowry. He alleged that on August 24, 2010, the accused killed her.

CPM seeks rail line for Mewat:
The Haryana CPM has demanded a railway line for Mewat as lack of proper road and rail network has been responsible for poor development in the area. State CPM secretary Inderjit Singh said the government must provide a new railway line connecting Delhi, Gurgaon and Alwar with Sohna, Nuh and Ferozepur Jhirka of this district.
