Batala man held for raping minor: A 13-year-old Dalit girl of Mattian village, falling under the Rajasansi police station, was allegedly raped by Bhupinder Singh at his house at Inderjeet Bholi on Saturday. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Tulsi Ram said the victim’s father had alleged when her daughter went to the market, the accused forcibly took her to his house and raped her. Two dismissed cops among 3 booked: The police has booked three persons, including two dismissed policemen, for allegedly duping a number of residents after promising them jobs in the police. Shingara Singh, a resident of village Shahpur in Fazilka district, alleged that Harjeet Singh of Fazilka district, Fateh Singh and Amandeep Singh of Muktsar district had promised a job to his son in the police and charged Rs 4 lakh for the purpose. Youth gets 10-yr RI in dowry death case: A local court on Monday sentenced a 21-year-old youth, Raju Singh of Khanal Kalan village in Dirba, to 10-year rigorous imprisonment in a dowry death case. A case was registered in August 2010 against Raju, his father Satpal Singh (56) and minor brother Lakhvir. In his complaint, victim's father Lachhman Dass alleged that his daughter was being continuously harassed for dowry. He alleged that on August 24, 2010, the accused killed her.
