More the merrier!
It is a festival and everyone’s invited to be a part of it; just in case you can’t, you can view on a big screen. The news is that this festival called cinema has just grown better and bigger, which means there is scope for more; which means at the same cost (Rs 70 for silver and 150 for a gold ticket) you will now get to see more drama and handsome faces. If all this reads gibberish to you, the pressing fact of the moment is that Punjabi flicks are rolling in the glory of multi-star cast movies. So, no longer would you find a Yograj Singh or Varinder singing, dancing, fighting and not to forget romancing all alone! Now, it is more than one actor doing the same thing. The recent hits Burrah, Sirphire, Yaar Anmulle, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22 and Saadi Love Story only second this fact.

English masala, Punjabi tadka
English movies dubbed in Punjabi…as hilarious as it can get! Here comes something that is going to add dollops of creativity, substance, seriousness and professionalism in this arena. With the official news of the fifth installment of popular Die Hard franchise, Bruce Willis A Good Day To Die Hard, releasing in Punjabi along with English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, Punjabi entertainment gets another booster.

A dream start
As far as Punjabi movies are concerned, Jaswinder Bhalla has been-there-done-that. Howver, his journey has become all the more satisfactory as his son, Pukhraj Bhalla, has acted alongside him in the forthcoming Punjabi movie Stupid 7. For 19-year-old Pukhraj, who is making a debut with this movie, it is like a dream come true. Acting is a different ball-game, he says. “Everything matters, including body language, expressions and screen presence; it was a great learning experience for me,” he adds.

When art celebrates history
In his attempt to pull out a few pages from the history of India’s struggle for independence, Abninder Singh Grewal pays a tribute to the father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi, by creating Gyarah Murti. “To mark the 66th martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi on January 30, my team and I have created Gandhiji’s historic Dandi Yatra in fibre-glass,” details Grewal, a 66-year-old artist. Every statue stands seven feet high and is a replica of the famous bronze Gyarah Murti at the Mother Teresa Crescent in New Delhi.

A woman’s canvas
She was born on January 30, 1913, and was the first Indian woman to pursue contemporary art — Amrita Shergil has indeed defined the revolutionary strokes that painted the image of today’s modern woman. To commemorate her birth anniversary, a group of contemporary women artists have organised a series of solo exhibitions at the Sobha Singh Art Gallery at the Punjab Kala Bhawan, Sector 16, Chandigarh. The month-long exhibition will be inaugurated by Prem Singh, former principal of the Government College of Art on Wednesday.

GET PHYSICAL
Flex your body

One of the most important things you can do for your good health is to spend a few minutes a day on flexibility training. No Doubt it is one of the most important but neglected areas of fitness. Flexibility training is so important that if you have only 30 minutes to exercise, you should spend at least 10 minutes on flexibility training.

CELEB POINT
Jago India Jago

I was waiting for my friend for lunch at home. Where are you? I called her. Hey, she said, a traffic cop has caught me for breaking signal on the yellow light. So, I either pay him up or give him my licence! I am not going to do either as I am not wrong, she shouted.
