Pak fires again, loses 1 soldier in return fire
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, January 10
Two days after the Army lost its two soldiers to an attack by Pakistani troops, it today responded by firing at some Pakistani posts, killing one enemy soldier.

Sources said Pakistan started firing at the Battal post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir around 4.30 pm today. “We responded in a measured and a calibrated manner to the cross-LoC fire,” a senior Army officer said.

Media reports from Pakistan said the Indian Army killed one Pakistani soldier today. The firing ended at 6.10 pm. Incidentally, the 13 Rajputana Rifles, the same unit that lost its two men on January 8, was tasked to respond.

Indian and Pakistan troops have been exchanging light fire in the Uri sector since Wednesday night. “The two sides have been intermittently exchanging light fire in Churanda village of Uri sector,” said a source.
