Inspired by monolithic architecture, Delhi-based Designer Abhi Singh has used free-flowing fabric to wonderful effect
As a theme, monolithic architecture sounds so complex, so intelligent. Refer to Wikipedia and it bounces back with results of architecture that promises a lot of movement on the vertical surface of a structure. Abhi Singh liked the concept, decided to replicate the same for his spring summer collection at the Wills India Fashion Week for 2013. Fabric became the obvious substitute of concrete as well as stones and that is where the simpler part of the adaptation ended. "Afterwards it was like climbing a steep hill.

Green thumb
Bulbous blooms
The bulbous plants give one of the most beautiful flowers. The climate in Tricity is such that it allows growing of various kinds of bulbs here. It has been observed that even those belonging to high altitudes give bloom here when the climate is conducive. Being hardy, they grow easily. At times the city gardeners bring grown-up plants from high altitudes and get blooms in the plains of this region. Such blooms are seen in flower shows too.

Pet passion
In black & white
Before she begins on the joys and sorrows of a pet, there's a warning note for all the existing and the aspiring masters. "If you are ready to give time and love to the pet, only then you should have one. Moreover, it should be a family decision. I've literally mothered them," shares Nivedita Sharma, businesswoman, of her two pets Romeo and Frappe. "Romeo is a six-year-old, black Cocker Spaniel, while Frappe is a five-year-old white Lhasa Apso. And they are complete opposites not just in colour but also behaviour." There's a third one too. "That's a big Rottweiler and he stays only at the farmhouse and guards it." She adds, "In fact, at the farm we also have buffaloes. The family is not just dog lover but animal lover."

CELEB POINT
Waiting for a better tomorrow…
I am in a state of shock. What times are we living in? Is this what a democracy is? Anyone gets up, makes a statement and moves on and is let off without any action taken as the law will take its own course. And the course will last at least a few years! By then you will be tired and exhausted and will give up. Or, there will be loopholes to let you off somehow!
