The BJP core group today absolved party’s beleaguered president Nitin Gadkari of any legal or moral wrongdoing in the wake of reports that his companies received “dubious” funding. Earlier during the day, senior leader Ram Jethmalani demanded that Gadkari should step down in the face of these charges.

Giving an unprecedented boost to their ties, India and Canada today announced the conclusion of thorny negotiations over administrative arrangements for operationalising the civil nuclear deal, which would facilitate Canadian companies to soon start exporting uranium and nuclear reactors to this country.

Poll panel rejects Swamy’s petition to de-recognise Cong
New Delhi, November 6
The Election Commission today rejected the plea of Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy seeking de-recognition of the Congress. The commission made it clear that its power to suspend or withdraw recognition of a recognised political party could only be exercised in case the party failed to observe model code of conduct or follow lawful directions and instructions of the commission.

Sacked Maruti workers plan hunger strike at Manesar plant
Gurgaon, November 6
The Manesar unit of Maruti Suzuki, which is trying to limp back to normalcy after the July 18 mayhem, is headed for trouble again as a fresh strike is on its way. After almost four months of the thaw, the sacked workers of Maruti have regrouped and decided to stage a protest.
