Cricket buffs are in for a mega treat. The Ministry of Home Affairs today cleared Pakistan cricket team’s tour of India for a limited-over series beginning December 25 and said the government will provide foolproof security to the visiting team.

SN Vashisht is new Haryana DGP

The Haryana Government today appointed SN Vashisht, director of the State Vigilance Bureau, as the Director General of Police. The 1981 batch IPS officer succeeds Ranjiv Singh Dalal, who retires tomorrow after a record tenure of nearly six-and-a-half years.

The Income Tax Department today conducted ‘open inquiries’ on the premises of companies which invested in Purti Sugar and Power run by beleaguered BJP chief Nitin Gadkari and found many of their directors were people with small means like security guards and labourers.

HC gives Punjab 4 months to verify ’84 riot victims’ claims
Chandigarh, October 30
The Punjab and Haryana High Court has made it clear that the authorities in the State of Punjab are required to decide the claims of the “1984 anti-Sikh riots victims” in a time-bound manner. “It is imperative upon the authorities to consider their claim in a time-bound manner,” a Division Bench of the high court has asserted, while setting a four-month deadline for the Ludhiana and Mohali deputy commissioners to verify the claims of the “riot victims”.
