He’s got the power…
The title Power Cut and Jaspal Bhatti put together take care of a lot of explanations. The fact that the satirist takes his comedy seriously goes without saying, as also the fact that he likes to poke fun while passing a message. There’s more. “The word power stands for not just electricity but in this movie I was trying to deal with the other angle of power too,” he shares, while kick-starting the promotions from Chandigarh. Nothing may be as irking as a power cut, but revolving a film around the subject was something of a challenge, “I like to deal with drier subjects and accept the challenge of making them juicier by deriving humour out of them.”

Hit formula
Constantly travelling is Red Bull’s daring driver Neel Jani’s life. This 19-year-old Swiss race car driver had the adventure of his lifetime as he took up the challenge to take Formula 1 car to the world famous Khardung-La pass.

Charm of squares
Each canvas celebrates the beauty of sectoral grids and the structures that are so characteristic of Chandigarh and its architect. Le Corbusier 125, the ongoing exhibition at Alliance Francaise, is a parallel between two cities—La Chaux De Fonds and Chandigarh--a place where Le Corbusier was born and a place where he was redefined.

Ethnic touch
Ahead of the auspicious occasion of Diwali, Tanishq, has announced the availability of an exciting range of gold jewellery for the festive season. Starting from a weight of 2 grams, the Festive Gold Collection celebrates freedom of choice and value.

HANDS on treatment
Of all the lessons that good old grandma gave to her girlies, one very important thing that she always talked about was - a well-groomed woman takes good care of her hands and feet. If you have missed out on the tip….step into the newly opened Polish, a nail spa in Sector-8, Chandigarh, which will take care of the ‘hand’ bit carefully! A unique concept in Chandigrah, Polish promises to take care of your hands. Here, the best of technicians convert your nails into a canvas and fill it with colours as well as designs that you like or would like to have. Looking pretty, wearing sparkling nail extensions Harkiran Singha, co- owner Polish, says, “Polish will offer an ultimate nail spa experience where women can get a range of services in nail care and hand as well as foot care.”

Celebration time
It will soon become the official uniform of the Indian women--the anarkali suits. Different colours, different designs, it is difficult to pass a stall at JW Marriott without noticing the attire. The on-going two-day exhibition Celebrations- The fashion Festival at JW Marriott seems to have attracted buyers.

When Goofy-ing up is fun
Jerome K Jerome could never emphasize enough about his lazy dog Montmorency in the famous Three Men In a Boat. He perhaps, never counted the four legged fourth character, on board too, “whose ambition in life was to get in the way and be sworn at.” Laughs Aarti Talwar, BA, 2nd year student, “My dogs are so lazy. They do nothing all day but sleep. Even now they are sleeping.” She too can’t emphasize enough the characteristics of her both six-year-old labrador and basset hound.

It’s got the Style
Music indeed has no language. The track Gangnam Style which is a single by South Korean rapper PSY (Park Jae-Sang) has become the talk of the town, nay, talk of the world! The song was released on July 15 as the lead single of his sixth studio album—PSY’s Best 6th Part 1 and it spread like a wildfire through Internet.

Golden hues
How does it matter if in the last one year gold prices have shot up roughly by 3,000 rupees? People might fret over the fact, but that's what is intriguing about the yellow metal. It sells and people buy, no matter what. Nikita Anand, former Miss India, once again voluntarily takes up the charge to solve this mystery with her show Oh My Gold on TLC. The show will enter its second edition from October 22 and this time it focuses on Chennai, Kolkata, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram for jewellery trends.

Crawling glory
For someone who has a collection of reptiles and amphibians — a few Mediterranean tortoises, spotted turtles, geckos, skinks, snakes and even an axolot — life is pretty sorted! When children his age were visiting zoos, he was hiding all the creepy crawlies at home. Nigel Marven didn't have to think hard for future; the wildlife enthusiast, film-maker and television reporter just had to be where he is. "I've always been fascinated by nature and wildlife. As a child, I drove my parents mad with all the animals and creepy crawlies I kept in our house."
