Hoshiarpur
Unauthorised colonies: As many as 316 unauthorised colonies have been identified in municipal council limits of Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr districts of Jalandhar region. Pritam Singh, Deputy Regional Director of Local Government, Jalandhar region, said he had visited all 30 Municipal Councils in Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala and Nawanshahr districts to ascertain the exact number of unauthorised colonies and had directed the executive officers and municipal engineers, assistant municipal engineers and sectional officers to initiate court proceedings against all the violators of law. And in case they agree to follow the set norms in this regard, their colonies should be
regularised.
Lahan seized: The Chabbewal police raided the house of Bhupinder Singh of Sarangwal and seized 100 kg of lahan. On seeing the police personnel, Bhupinder Singh fled. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Excise Act. In another incident, the Tanda police seized 40 kg of poppy husk from one Jarnail Singh near Narangpur village. Jarnail fled after leaving his motorcycle behind.
