Haryana’s continuing shame: 4 more rapes reported in a day 
Chandigarh, October 3
Haryana’s growing rape shame couldn’t get worse. Four more rape cases were reported from different parts of the state today, raising the the total number of such cases to 10 during the past one month.

HC confirms death to Hoshiarpur boy’s killers
Chandigarh, October 3
Seven years after the murder of Hoshiarpur boy Abhi Verma, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today confirmed death sentence awarded to the two assassins, Jasbir Singh and Vikram Walia. With this, a Bench headed by Justice Surya Kant paved the way for their hanging, but deferred execution of sentence till October 12 to allow them to challenge the judgment in the Supreme Court.

Lt Gen KS Brar at the Mumbai airport on Wednesday. Injured Lt Gen KS Brar (retd) landed back in Mumbai from London today. The Ministry of Home Affairs has tasked the Intelligence Bureau (IB) to review his security. Suspected Pro-Khalistan militants attacked Lt Gen Brar on Sunday in Central London.

Punjab Police: Attack handiwork of youths influenced by radicals
Chandigarh, October 3
Youngsters influenced by radical Sikh propaganda and not trained terrorists could have been behind the attack on Lt Gen KS Brar, according to Punjab Police officials who track movement of radicals here and abroad. There is a feeling among police circles here that the attack was the work of amateurs and not trained professionals.
