Shimla, September 15
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister PK Dhumal today said the decision of the Centre to allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) will not be permitted in the hill state. Dhumal said the decision to allow FDI would negatively impact the economy and many small traders will be put out of business.

Taking up the cause of small farmers and traders, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today made it clear that his government would not allow Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in multi-brand retail in the state.

Ratan Tata, IndustrialistRatan Tata, chairman, Tata Sons, has congratulated the government on clearing the proposal to allow 51 per cent FDI in multi-brand retail. In a letter written to Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma, Tata has endorsed “the long overdue move despite tremendous political resistance from vested interest sections”.
