Chandigarh, August 10
In just less than one year after being diagnosed with rare germ cell cancer, ace India batsman Yuvraj Singh has made it to the 15-member squad for T20 World Cup to be held in Sri Lanka from September 18.

The BCCI selection committee meeting held in Mumbai on Saturday recalled Punjab batsman after his fitness report was cleared by National Cricket Academy in Bangalore.

Yuvi’s remarkable comeback to the cricket field could be as early as September 8 or September 11 as he has been included in the squad for two T20 matches to be played at home against New Zealand.

Yuvraj tweeted: “Can't explain how I feel ! Feels like I'm going to play for india for the first time!want to thank a lot of people. Specially bcci and selectors for showing their faith in me my friends and family my fans and media ! It's a special day for me.”

The Player of the tournament in 2011 World Cup has not played international cricket since he played in two of three home Tests against the West Indies in November 2011, but looks determined to turn the tide. “I will be playing a few practice matches in Bangalore. And then will play two matches against New Zealand.

So I will be prepared for the World T20. Apart from physical fitness, I needed to have mental fitness. I am confident I will be 100% fit when I play," he said.

“I always believed I'd come back. I'm going to give it my best and try winning matches for India. After the 2011 World Cup, I have not really played any ODI or T20. Everybody is just happy that I am back,” Yuvraj said, summing up the mood.

After undergoing chemotherapy in Boston, US, Yuvraj recuperated from the dreaded disease on February 14 and returned to India on April 9, 2012.

Another notable comeback into the squad is that of struggling off spinner Harbhajjan Singh.

The feisty sardar has been cooling his heels since the tours of West Indies and England last year.
