Gurdaspur ADC booked for tinkering with records
Gurdaspur/Nawanshahr, June 12 Deputy Commissioner Abhinav Trikha said a criminal case had been registered against Sukhdev Singh on the directions of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Sukhdev Singh’s suspension orders, signed by the Financial Commissioner (Rural Development), were received in his office yesterday evening. However, his staff maintained that the officer had proceeded on long leave. Nobody, except the DC, was willing to confirm that the officer had been sent to jail. A case of forgery, tampering with government records under Sections 465/66/67/68 and 471 of the IPC and criminal conspiracy (Section 120-B) has been registered against him at the Rahon police station. Sources said the officer had allegedly tampered with official records while he was posted as the District Development and Panchayat Officer at Nawanshahr in 2009. He also gave two different decisions in a particular case on the same date. The ADC was the Returning Officer for the Dinanagar Vidhan Sabha seat during the Assembly polls.
