Elected
: Raj Kishore Kalra has been unanimously elected as the president of the Social Welfare Society, an NGO, for the fourth time in a row during a meeting held here.

Bike stolen: A motorcycle was stolen from the area in front of the local DAV College. In a complaint to the police, Tarun Kumar of Baba Deep Singh Nagar said his bike was stolen. He said after parking his bike on a street in front of the DAV College, he went to attend tuition. A case has been registered at Civil Lines police station.

No Tobacco Day: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) will be observing No Tobacco Day on May 30. District and sessions judge-cum-chairman DLSA SK Aggarwal will preside over the event. A seminar would be organised to mark the occasion.

City tae kwon do team bring laurels:
The city’s junior Tae kwon do team secured runners-up position, in the recently held 23rd North East ITF Taekwondo Championship held at a Solan (HP). The team secured the 2nd place after wining 13 medals.

Cheating case: Sanjay Agarwal, a resident of Mani Majra, has alleged that a woman, accompanied by a person identified as Rajat Basin, a resident of Mansa Devi Complex in Panchkula, cheated him by selling a duplicate software in place of the original one created by him to their client. A case under Section 381, 419, 420 and 120B of the IPC and 66B, 66C, 66D of the IT ACT has been registered.

Faridabad
DC’s order
: The district administration has put on notice all shelter homes for children in Faridabad to get themselves registered with the Women and Child Development Department by June 30. Balraj Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Faridabad, said the registration was mandatory under the Juvenile Justice Act.

Kurukshetra
Illegal colony
: On the complaint lodged by Amrik Singh, District Town Planner, Kurukshetra, the Pehowa police has registered a case against Yash Pal and Vijay, residents of Sarswati Khera Bhat Majra, for allegedly carving out an illegal colony without permission and licence.

PO held: The district police has arrested a proclaimed offender, Sanjeev Kumar of Ladwa, who was facing a case under sections 323 and 324, IPC. He had been declared a proclaimed offender on March 9, 2012, said Rakesh Kumar Arya, SP, hereon Tuesday.

Rewari
Priest dead: Naresh Giri (50), a priest of a temple at Budhhpur village, near here, died in a fire in the temple complex owing to reported leakage from an LPG cylinderon Tuesday morning. The police says it is a case of accidental death.
