Strike reduces trade to a trickle at Attari checkpost
Amritsar, April 27
Bilateral trade between India and Pakistan via Attari-Wagah land route today virtually came to a standstill after a strike by Indian traders protesting against “excessive handling charges” at the new Integrated Check Post. The cargo area meant for exports wore a deserted look today.

Police can force Tiwari to give DNA sample, says HC
New Delhi, April 27
The Delhi High Court today allowed the use of police to force former Uttarakhand Chief Minister ND Tiwari to give his DNA sample to ascertain a claim that he is the biological father of 32-year-old Rohit Shekhar.

Dehra Dun: ND Tiwari would move the Supreme Court against the Delhi High Court, his aide said on Friday. "Tiwari has decided to appeal against the High Court order in the apex court.... This is a judicial process and we respect the court's order," said Sanjay Joshi, Tiwari's officer on special duty.

India today inducted first of the three ‘Teg class’ warships built by a Russian shipyard. These are classified as stealth frigates due to their ability to avoid detection from enemy radars and sensors.

President Pratibha Patil has expressed anguish over media reports that she was going to occupy an accommodation allotted to her by the Defence Ministry reserved for war widows after her retirement. She has not only denied the reports, but also announced that she has decided to forgo the facility of life-long government accommodation available to all former Presidents.
