Singhvi CD a developing story on networking sites
Vibha Sharma/TNS

New Delhi, April 21
Ace lawyer Abhishek Singhvi may have stonewalled media houses’ efforts to publish or broadcast a controversial CD involving him. But he has found himself defenceless before the social media networks, which are now abuzz with the objectionable CD.
The unflattering images today saw the senior Congress leader lashing out at networking sites, accusing them of indulging in “sensationalism” despite a court injunction. “It is obvious that the adage ‘be you ever so high, law is above you’ does not apply to the social media,” an exasperated Singhvi was quoted as saying.

“Not only is there a court injunction, but even a respectable a media group has accepted the position of the court,” he said.

“The controversy has come at a time when he was perceived to be poised for major gains in his political career. The CD seems to have cost him, at least for now, his long-held post of an official party spokesman.

While both Congress and the man in the eye of the storm have claimed that he did not attend last Monday briefing because he was unwell, all eyes are now set on the coming Monday when his turn to address the media comes up again as per the original roster.

In a relief to the MP, his former driver has claimed he was the one who distributed the “distorted” CD.
