At least one person was killed and 17 injured as a cyclonic windstorm swept across the Valley, blowing away hundreds of rooftops, uprooting an even greater number of trees, and disrupting power services on Tuesday.

SC rejects govt plea for Vodafone case review 
New Delhi, March 20
The Supreme Court today rejected the government’s plea for a review of the SC verdict holding that Vodafone International Holding (VIH) need not pay Rs 11,000 crore towards capital gains tax for the purchase of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd’s Indian mobile business in 2007.
In the January 20 verdict, a three-member Bench headed by Chief Justice SH Kapadia had ruled that the Indian Income Tax Department did not have jurisdiction to levy tax on the deal struck overseas.

A day after Punjab Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh let it be known to his party detractors that he was “there to stay”, senior Punjab leader and Minister of State for Planning Ashwani Kumar on Tuesday sought his removal for the Assembly poll debacle.
He also reminded the state leaders that “they cannot escape moral and political responsibility for the defeat.”
