Three of thieves’ gang arrested Jalandhar, March 10 Besides a vehicle (Tempo Trax), the police recovered stolen electrical goods in bulk worth lakhs of rupees from their possession. Those arrested are identified as Naresh Kumar, Ram Kumar and Sushil Kumar, originally hailing from Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. Currently they all were residing in Raja Garden Colony near here. Nine other accused, including three Bangadeshi refugees, are absconding. |

The gang had connived with certain local junk dealers, who were orchestrating thefts for quite some time. The police has also identified certain junk dealers in this connection. HPS Khakh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), said the gang had links with some local junk dealers to whom they sold the stolen goods at cheaper rates. Khakh said junk dealers have been identified as Jai Parkash, Sushil Kumar (both residents of Gautam Nagar), Ram Kumar of Raja Garden and Ravi of Adarsh Nagar. The preliminary investigation revealed that junk dealers raised these inter-state gangs to coordinate thefts. The ADCP said during questioning, the arrested members revealed that three Bangladeshi refugees - Shiraj, Salim and Sadik - were active members of their gang and were living in Delhi. They had engineered number of thefts in the national capital. They were living in Jalandhar since 2008 to evade arrest. Other six accused have been identified as Vijay, Ravi, Anil, Kalu, Dalal and Mamu, all residents of Gautam Nagar. The police recovered a laptop, two still cameras, a tape recorder, a electrical binocular, a DVD player, three LCDs, television, a mobile phone, three wrist watches, a gas cylinder.
