BJP demands re-election in Kondla village
Hoshiarpur, February 27 He said the votes of this village had wrongly been polled for Chabbewal Vidhan Sabha segment. Vijay Sud, who was polling agent of the BJP candidate at Kondla, said he had raised the issue before Returning Officer for Hoshiarpur Vidhan Sabha seat. As no one has taken any action in this matter, he had to complain to the Election Commission, Punjab, in this regard. On the account of improper accommodation, the electorates of this hamlet had to cast their votes in some other village coming under Hoshiarpur state Assembly segment. But this time the polling station for this segment had wrongly been set up in Chabbewal Vidhan Sabha segment and the electorates of this village cast their votes in favour of candidates contesting in Chabbewal segment instead of Hoshiarpur segment, he alleged. Dipinder Singh, District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Hoshiarpur, said that a report regarding the demand of re-polling along with facts had been sent to the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab. Action would be taken as soon as we receive orders, he said. Returning Officer of Chabbewal segment Harminder Singh said voters of Kondla villages and Bassi Jaura of Chabbewal segment cast their votes at Bassi Jaura polling booth as it is located on the boundary of both the villages. There are 159 electorates in Kondal village whereas there are 259 in Bassi Jaura segment. He said more than 73 per cent polling had been recorded in Chabbewal segment.
