Friends no more
They are certainly not the close friends you confide in. Ever increasing facebook friends list, being a case in point. Friends, friends’ friends, acquaintance from way back in school, batch mates, seniors, siblings … the list is endless. Which is the most far flung relation they added to the ever growing directory? Shares Parth Gargish, assistant project manager, of his 520 friends in the facebook list.

Common man’s story….
A movie on corruption in the country, a sizzling number by sensational Veena Malik…well, one couldn’t but admire director Rumi Jaffrey for his timing. However, a quick conversation with him and one realises that he has a little role to play in it. “I am not one of the lot who would jump on to encash any issue that makes headlines. It takes minimum a year and a half for a film to be finalised. The truth is that this is a subject that I wanted to work on for a long time but wanted to turn it into a commercial entertainer. Our flick and Anna movement started almost side by side. I see it as God being kind in giving us promotional mileage by synchronising the timings,” he says.

Rocking on desi beats

Three Bollywood singers hailing from three sleepy villages, falling within a radius of fifteen kilometers between Patiala and Gobindgarh have emerged as gems of the music world, who have made it to the Bollywood with élan. After Labh Janjua (who hails from village Majra Maana Singh) of Ji karda fame, Kamal Khan, Sa Re Ga Ma winner (from village Reethkheri) and now Alamgir Khan from Lalauda village near Patiala has emerged as a new playback singer in Bollywood.

Stress Buster
Watch out
“Hey how about a movie tomorrow?” I called up a friend but pat came the reply! ‘’How can you be so frivolously foolish, here I am in the middle of a million things that are vital stressing like crazy over them and you’re suggesting movies.’’ Well that’s the whole idea! I love going for a movie to forget what’s stressing me. Watching a lighthearted film doesn’t really solve your problems but it sometimes takes you into this wonderful make believe world, enough to make you gain perspective and you come back feeling fresh.

The foodies
Rustic allure
Dhaba—it usually comes with the rustic look; complete with truck murals, earthy interiors, manjis, thatched ceilings, traditional lanterns, mud painted walls and food served in thalis. Though the traditional dhabas have morphed into modern dhabas over the years and now graduated to a mini-restaurant, they, however, still like to call themselves a dhaba!
