42-yr-old man commits suicide

A 42- year- old man from Jammu committed suicide by hanging himself to a ceiling fan at a government school located at Bhatya village in the Ladhowal area here today.

Conductor’s services terminated
Ludhiana, December 26
After Ludhiana Tribune reported that residents were being overcharged by conductors of local buses, launched under the City Bus Service project, the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation (MC) today sprung into action and terminated the services of a conductor with immediate effect.

The 112th birth anniversary of Shaheed Udam Singh was commemorated by the Saheed Udam Singh Memorial Trust. Jaswant Singh Chamak, secretary general of the Trust, highlighted the sacrifice made by Udam Singh. "He was a great revolutionary, who avenged the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. His sacrifice has no parallel in any history of independence struggle”, he said.

The annual alumni meet - 2011 of Dayanand Medical College and Hospital witnessed many nostalgic moments as old students went over their past memories and present professional commitments. Petrol being sold at old rates

Though the state government has announced to abolish octroi on petrol and diesel, petrol stations in the city have been charging the old rates from consumers. The reason is non-receipt of notification, which is yet to be sent to them through oil companies.

First high-capacity substation manufactured

Muskan Power Infrastructure Limited ( MPIL), a city-based firm, has achieved the distinction of becoming the first power sector company in India to manufacture a high-capacity 6.3 MVA containerised package sub-station. The company successfully delivered this sub-station to a big construction company in the Middle East a week ago.

Stolen motorcycle recovered, three held

With the arrest of three youths, the Jodhewal Basti police has busted a gang of thieves and recovered one stolen motorcycle and one knife. The trio of Parminder Singh, Gaurav Bajaj and Amanpreet Singh, was nabbed from the Jodhewal area last night.
