‘Better’ system delays salary of govt staff

Nawanshahr, December 13
The Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS) introduced by the state government for streamlining as well as bringing in qualitative improvement in the functioning of the district treasuries, has been causing inconvenience to the employees of different departments for getting their salary and other bills cleared from the treasury here.

The procedure of clearance of bills from the treasury has become cumbersome due to the slow speed as well as frequent snags in the on-line IFMS here in the district treasury. This is causing inordinate delay in the clearance of payments. As a result, salary bills are piling up in the district treasury.

Employees of the district treasury here have also been facing a lot of mental harassment. “On the one side, the state government has introduced Right to Service Act for ensuring time bound delivery of public utility services and has made provisions to impose penalty to the errant employees, but here we are unable to deliver the services for want of proper implementation of the on-line system," rued the employees of the district treasury.

The affected employees have urged the government either to take immediate steps to set the IFMS right or let the district treasuries clear their bills manually.
