Mum’s the word, croons Harbhajan as he makes singing debut Jalandhar, December 10 Missing from cricketing action, Bhajji has been busy recording a duet with Punjabi singer Lakhwinder Lucky eulogising mothers. The Jalandhar-born off spinner has recorded the non-commercial song for a social organisation campaigning against female foeticide and other issues. Its video will be shot soon and the song is slated for release around Mother’s Day (May 13) next year. The song, written by Phillaur-based lyricist Sanjay Glory, is about an individual who despite achieving great fame and glory is very proud of his roots and loves his mother deeply. Bhajji today shared news of his singing debut via a tweet: “Recorded my 1st song dedicated to all mothers in the world. no matter u love me or hate me, but we love our mothers (sic).” The song is in the form of a conversation with God, wherein Bhajji humbly tells the Creator that he places his mother on a higher pedestal. “Mere dil de vich hai koi baitha tehton ucchi thaan, meri maa, meri maa…” he croons. Song lyricist Glory had approached Bhajji for the venture during the Ranji (Punjab versus UP) match in Mohali about a month ago. “To begin with, we requested Harbhajan to appear in the video for the song, to which he agreed. But when we insisted, he agreed to sing as well,” Glory said.
