Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma today ruled out any rollback of the policy on FDI in the retail sector and even challenged the Opposition to bring a no-confidence motion in Parliament.Speaking exclusively to The Tribune, Sharma answered a range of questions on the policy, which he has piloted.

Reply strongly to any future NATO attack on Pak: Kayani to troops
Pakistan Army chief Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani has upped the ante in the standoff with the United States by telling his troops that aggressors would not be able to evade a crushing retaliation in future. Vowing to respond to any future “aggression” (by US and NATO troops) with “full force” regardless of its consequences, he also permitted the troops to retaliate to any attack without waiting for directions from the command.

Maderna arrested in Bhanwari case
Jodhpur, December 2
Sacked Rajasthan Minister Mahipal Maderna was today arrested by the CBI along with the brother of a ruling Congress MLA in Bhanwari Devi abduction case, hours after the agency filed a charge sheet against three other accused. Maderna, 59, who was sacked from Ashok Gehlot Cabinet on October 16 after his name cropped up in the case, and Parasram Bishnoi, brother of ruling party MLA Malkhan Singh, were taken into custody today after another round of questioning.

SC notice to Varun on alleged hate speech 
New Delhi, December 2
Varun Gandhi The Supreme Court today issued notice to Varun Gandhi, BJP MP from Pilibhit in Uttar Pradesh, on a petition seeking his disqualification for seeking votes in the name of religion and resorting to hate speeches against the minority community. A Bench comprising Justices Altamas Kabir and SS Nijjar also accepted a plea for holding the next hearing on the petition, filed by the losing Congress candidate VM Singh, within three months.
