Rajinder Nagarkoti/TNS

Chandigarh, August 27
Former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Nirmal Yadav was today granted bail by a special CBI court here in the 2008 cash-at-judge’s-door scam.

Nirmal Yadav personally appeared before the trial court judge in the district courts complex following a direction by the Punjab and Haryana HC. The court asked her to furnish a bail bond of Rs 25,000, which was offered by her family friend and lawyer Preduman Yadav. The court directed her to be present at the next date of hearing on September 16. Earlier, Yadav had failed to appear before the court consecutively for three times - May 19, July 9 and August 1.

Yadav, who was accompanied by her daughter Suruchi and advocates Ravindra Pandit and SK Garg, reached the court of CBI special judge Ritu Tagore at 10.50 am. She stayed in the courtroom for around 10 minutes and left after her bail bonds were furnished.

Avoids media

  • Nirmal Yadav did not speak to mediapersons, who had assembled in large numbers at the court complex.
  • After completion of hearing, she went towards the exit gate facing the bus stand (Sec-17), but seeing a battery of photojournalists there, she changed her direction and rushed towards another exit gate (police station side).
  • Her car was allowed to enter the court premises and she made a hurried exit
