DGP Gill, Principal Secy to Badal under EC watch New Delhi, August 20 The EC had received certain allegations against the DGP during its review meeting with various political parties, district election officers and senior state government officials regarding preparations for the next year’s Punjab Assembly elections, an EC statement said. Some political parties had complained about certain state government officials for their biased approach, in particular about deployment of about 350 police security guards to certain individuals in Moga district with ulterior motives. It was also alleged that the DGP had made several visits in the recent past to Moga as he nurtured political ambition. Meanwhile, Guru’s name was specifically mentioned in the complaint submitted by representatives of various political parties during the CEC meeting. Punjab Congress Chief Capt Amarinder Singh had alleged that Gill and Guru were acting as political workers.Besides, the CEO has also been informed other decisions taken during the review meeting for compliance relating to electoral rolls, training of BLOs, enrolment of new voters, implementation of transfer policy, execution of non-bailable warrants, identification of vulnerable booths among others. The CEO has been asked to ensure compliance of the EC orders and intimate action taken in these matters by August 25.
