 Anna HazareThe UPA government and the Team Anna were locked in a confrontation today as a fuming Anna Hazare categorically rejected the conditional permission given by the Delhi Police for his fast for a stronger Lokpal Bill, limiting it to three days and 5,000 persons. Hazare also shot off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking his intervention for the protection of his fundamental rights.

Heavy rain wreaks havoc in Punjab, 17 dead

A truck driver was killed when his vehicle tripped into a caved-in portion of the road near Maharaj Nagar in Ludhiana on Saturday.Heavy rain during the past 24 hours at various places, especially in central Punjab has played havoc leading to the death of 17 persons, besides disrupting normal life.
