SC stays return of Singur land to farmers
New Delhi, June 29
Farmers unwilling to give their land to Tata Motors talk to officials at the office of the district collectorate in Singur, 45 km north of Kolkata, on Wednesday. Tata Motors’ today got “interim protection” from the Supreme Court that stopped the newly elected West Bengal Government from returning to farmers the land acquired for the automobile major’s Nano project in Singur.

SC refuses to intervene at Lokpal Bill draft stage
New Delhi, June 29
The Supreme Court today declined to give immediate hearing on a petition seeking to restrain the government from circulating the draft of the proposed Lokpal Bill to parliamentarians.A vacation bench comprising justices P Sathasivam Reddy and A K Patnaik said the matter of the Lokpal Bill was still under discussion and there was no need to interfere at this stage.
